«'A Sciara»

A terrifying show

Images of the lava fields (the sciara) of the zone of "Santissimo Cristo" (Blessed Christ).

Placed at the periphery of Bronte, they are crossed by a beautiful road, paved in lava stones, that rises up to the gate of the Foresters at the feet of Etna.
A terrifying show and, in the same time majestic and charming, a magma sea that destroyed a part of Bronte a couple of centuries ago and that solidifying assumed the strange and unlikely forms.

A Museum of the lava stone and of the artisan and agricultural traditions of Etna will be instituted, in a short while, in the  Nelson Castle. A regional funding was already granted for the arrangement of the exhibition articles and the purchase of the technological tools.
Since about ten years, in front of the garden the same "Nelson Castle", among the green of the park' secular vegetation, can be visited a museum of sculptures of modern art in lava stone.

Above the cobblestone road that from the  SS. Cristo
rises up until the gate of the Foresters to the feet of Etna, inside a large area of lava that kept on flowing during 1651-1653, at a height of about 1000 meters, can be seen the so called "lave cordate" (roped lava) with notable  richness of "swellings".
Continuing until the zone in proximity of "Dagala Inchiusa" can be admired some outcrop of sedimentary rocks among the most ancient of the "Etna basement".
